Birds of a Feather
A recent discovery in Germany has paleontologists rethinking dinosaur evolution once again. It seems the new dinosaur, Juravenator, appears to be very closely related to a Chinese dinosaur, Sinosauropteryx. There is one major difference, however. Sinosauropteryx fossils indicate the animal was covered in feathers, while the Juravenator fossils show absolutely no sign of them, even in a patch of fossilize skin tissue. This discovery will likely lead scientists to reevaluate the evolutionary steps of feather development in dinosaurs. One of the most interesting things about paleontology, to me, is the constant revisions that are going on. For example, many of the things you may think you know about dinosaurs are simply not true.
